Preface to the Second Edition
Recently, a friend asked me, “Is this book still needed?” My response was an emphatic YES!!!
This book was originally conceived in the late-1990’s. The plan then was a book with CD-ROM inside the back cover that would be full of resources for the job seeker. Back then, AOL was just starting, and the internet as we know it now, had barely been born. Between raising a family and multiple job changes, it took me almost fifteen years to finish the book and to get it published, but over that time, the core of material didn’t change much. It is more than five years later, and the nature of how to network and find open jobs has evolved. The tools for researching companies are much better. The technology around interviews is changing. But, the fundamentals of how to find the best job for you remain the same.
- You still need to know how to deal with the emotions of losing a job and telling your family and friends.
